Towel Care

Initial Soak

An initial 24hr soak in cold water is recommended as this process opens and expands the organic cotton fibre, allowing for maximum absorbency.

After soaking, gently machine wash with a small amount of natural detergent. Tumble drying is ideal for removing any excess lint, but if you don’t have a dryer, line drying is perfectly fine.

It’s natural for the weave to contract slightly, about 1–1.5cm, after the first soak and wash.

Over time, with regular use and washing, your towels will become even softer and more absorbent, ensuring they remain a luxurious part of your daily routine.

Washing & Drying

Machine wash on a cold to warm gentle cycle using a natural laundry detergent.

Keep your towels separate from items with zips or rough textures that could catch on loops or tassels.

For bath mats, we recommend placing them in a delicates wash bag to protect their intricate tassels.

Avoid fabric softeners and bleach, as they can affect the towel’s absorbency.

A gentle tumble dry is best to maintain softness, but line drying is also suitable.

Threads & Pulls

If you notice any loose threads on your towel, simply trim them with a pair of sharp scissors. This will not harm the towel.

However, if a pull occurs on our flat-woven Pestamals, Blankets, or Tea Towels, avoid cutting the thread. Instead, locate the end of the thread and gently pull it through, just as you would with a snag on a jumper.
